HoneyCues ("we," "us") is a private app for couples that turns your cycle into a playful, private signal for the two of you. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, who can see it, and the choices available to you. It applies to everyone who uses the HoneyCues app.
Information we collect
To provide HoneyCues, we collect:
- Account information — your email address and name, managed through our authentication system.
- Profile details — your sex and date of birth, if you choose to provide them, used to personalize your experience and confirm you meet our minimum age.
- Cycle information — the dates you log, your typical cycle and period length, and whether your cycle is regular, used to generate your private estimates.
- Partner-pairing information — your partner's name and email address when you send an invite, and the status of that invite.
- Private signals — the messages you send to your paired partner, the cycle context at the time, and any reply your partner sends back.
- Your preferences — your notification and sharing settings.
We do not use advertising identifiers, and we do not use third-party analytics or tracking tools of any kind.
Your cycle and reproductive information
We treat your cycle and period information with particular care because it relates to your reproductive health. We use it only to generate the private estimates and signals the app is built around, and we collect it directly from you, never from other sources. It is never used for advertising, never shared with third parties, and never sold. HoneyCues shows gentle estimates, not medical facts — see "Not medical advice" in our Terms of Service.
How we use your information
- To create and operate your account, and to sign you in securely.
- To calculate your private cycle estimates and generate your signals.
- To deliver invites and pairing between you and your partner.
- To send account-related emails, such as email verification codes and partner invites.
- To keep the app secure, prevent abuse, and respond to support requests.
Our legal basis for processing (EEA/UK users)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract, to provide the app you signed up for; your explicit consent, for the cycle and reproductive information you choose to share; and our legitimate interest, to keep the service secure and working properly. You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account, as described below.
Who can see your information
Your information is private by default. Your paired partner can see the signals you choose to send and whether they have been read — nothing more. We do not share your information with other users, advertisers, data brokers, or any third party for marketing purposes, and we never sell personal information.
Service providers we use
A small number of specialized providers help us run HoneyCues, processing only what they need under our instructions:
- Our identity provider, to authenticate you securely and manage sign-in.
- Our cloud database and storage provider, to host the app's data.
- Our transactional email provider, to deliver account emails such as verification codes and partner invites.
None of these providers is an advertising network or analytics platform, and the app does not include third-party tracking or advertising SDKs.
Where your information is processed
HoneyCues runs on cloud infrastructure that may process and store your information outside your own country, including in the United States. Wherever your information is processed, we apply the same protections described in this policy.
How long we keep your information
We keep your information for as long as your account remains active, so the app keeps working the way you expect. If you delete your account, your account and the personal data tied to it — including your cycle information, signals, and partner-pairing details — are permanently deleted from our active systems. Limited records that we are required to keep for security or legal reasons may be retained for a short additional period where the law requires it.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Delete your account and the personal information tied to it.
- Object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent previously given.
- Request a copy of your information in a portable format.
We do not sell personal information, so there is no sale to opt out of. To exercise any of these rights, use the in-app options described below, or contact us — see "Contact us."
Deleting your account
You can permanently delete your account at any time from within the app (Account → Delete account). This removes your account and the personal data tied to it, including your cycle information, private signals, and partner pairing. You can also unpair from your partner at any time without deleting your account. If you prefer not to use the in-app option, contact us using the details below and we will take care of it.
How we protect your information
- All traffic to and from the app is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS).
- We never store your password — sign-in is handled by our dedicated identity system, and we only ever see a verified token, not your credentials.
- Access to your data is restricted to what each part of our system needs to do its job, and every request is checked against your account before it is allowed through.
Children's privacy
HoneyCues is intended for adults 18 years of age and older and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as HoneyCues evolves. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page, and if a change is significant, we will let you know through the app.
